New kids on the block

For mortals like us, sometimes names such as Thakoon, Rodarte or Peter Som are as strange as the chinese lenguaje, when we think about high end fashion we think about the big brands and names such as Prada, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Galliano, Lagerfeld, Chanel, Valentino, to mention a few.
But as fashion heartbeats are based in creativity there are young emerging talents that have been making a clear and loud statement since the past couple of years in the fashion scene.
Thakoon Panichgul is known for blending different influences into his work, with a feminine yet playful style. In September 2004, Panichgul produced his first ready to wear collection and quickly became a favorite with the fashion press, top editors (and when I say top, I mean Anna Wintour), stylists, and celebrities like Rachel Bilson, Demi Moore, Michelle Obama, and Sarah Jessica Parker. He has also produced lines for Gap and Target.
Take a look at his Fall Winter 2010 collection.
Peter Som is anothe designer which defines his own stule as an aesthetic of unstudied elegance and refined sexiness has with a fresh point of view to modern American fashion.
His stellar debut at Seventh on Sixth in the Bryant Park tents with his Spring 2001 Collection allowed him to be one of the most wanted ever since. Peter’s following includes Scarlett Johansson, Claire Danes, Camilla Belle, Mandy Moore and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Having emerged as one of the leaders of a new generation of American designers, Peter Som has a foundation on which to establish a modern luxury fashion and lifestyle brand, reinterpreting the tradition of Great American Sportswear for a new generation.
And last but not least the Mulleavy sisters behind Rodarte.
Thanks to polemic collection for MAC Cosmetics they have been strongly criticized, but reality is they are in my opinion THE MOST talented and a breeze of fresh air in the fashion industry. They not only mix fabrics, styles and have the ability to blend craftsmanship with perfect tailoring. Every collection has a strong statement and in my opinion each piece is a work of art. It’s such a shame that they became more popular thanks to a bad name choice for a nail polish, because their creativity and perfect garment making is worth to keep an eye on.
Oh! By the way, my birthday is in about a month so in august I will be able to give you guys my list favorite new names in the fashion scene, designers not only from the States (as I did now) but from all over the world.
No pressure to get me a gift from any of them 😉 and as September is the best month of the year not only because of my birthday but also because its FASHION WEEK baby! Now you can know more about new names and brands for the next show season.
